The University of South Wales (USW) is a public university in Wales, UK and its campuses are located in Cardiff, Newport, and Pontypridd. Each campus shares an equal importance for the university, each providing its own series of facilities and resources to students.USW has partnership with QA to deliver pathway programmes at Cardiff and Pontypridd campuses

USW offers 500+ courses under 3 faculties including Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science, Faculty of Business and Creative Industries & Faculty of Life Science and Education.

Employability is at the heart of university – USW has made employability part of the curriculum, with teaching informed by what happens in the real world and skills you’ll need for the workplace. Many of USW courses have ‘official’ industry approval, through accreditations from a host of professional bodies.

Undergraduate Entry Requirements
English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English language qualifications:

  • GCSE English at grade C
  • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each band)

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language Courses to prepare you for academic studies.

Academic Qualifications
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) with A grade
  • HSC scores with one or two B grades may be accepted on Business courses but would need to be considered on an individual basis for more specific subject areas
  • Students below A grade (HSC) will be considered for a Foundation Course
  • Applicants who have followed the A-Level curriculum can be considered for degree level entry- the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
Postgraduate Entry Requirements
English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Postgraduate study. The University of South Wales also recognises the following English language qualifications:

  • GCSE English at grade C
  • Postgraduate Study: IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

Academic Qualifications
  • A first class 4 year undergraduate degree CGPA 2.50 out of 4.00
  • A first class 2 year degree plus a master’s degree
  • MBA applicants should have one of the above qualifications plus at least 2 years post graduation work experience
  • A bachelor degree from a UK university/equivalent
